This Two Horsemen plaque is a large classical Bas Relief of two horse riders from the Parthenon Western Frieze. It is impressive at about 5 feet wide and three and one half feet high. The plaque depicts the first two cavalrymen in the Greater Panathenaic procession to the Acropolis. They are probably Hipparchus, (or anglicized hipparchs (Greek: ἵนนαρχος, romanized: hipparchos), which was the title of an ancient Greek cavalry officer, commanding a hipparchia (or unit).It was sculpted between c. 443 and 437 BC, most likely under the direction of Phidias.
