Lugano Urn

The Lugano Urn is a wonderful goblet urn with a very distinctive acanthus leaf design. A very intriguing motif. The urn is medium sized urn standing 17" tall and is a perfect accent on a mantle, a side table inside or outdoors.

The acanthus leaf comes from the acanthus plant. It's a perennial sometimes also called bear's breaches and it is native to the Mediterranean basin. It grows in a wide variety of harsh climate conditions, like windblown rocky ledges and islands with very salty air. Since ancient times, it's also been said to have healing and medicinal properties. Given the plant's background, you might not be surprised to know that acanthus leaves symbolize enduring life or long life and immortality. Even as design symbols, these leaves are enduring because they've been used for thousands of years in architecture, sculpture and design.

This distinctive urn is meticulously hand cast and hand finished in our USA foundry in extremely durable fiberstone. Fiberstone is a mixture of sand and stones cast into the surface to give the appearance of aged stone. Reinforced with a fiberglass backing, it remains lighter and less fragile than concrete. Guaranteed outdoor durability.
