The Green Man mask, also known as a foliate head, is an artistic motif featuring a face surrounded by foliage, symbolizing rebirth and the cycle of new growth. Its origins can be traced back to late Roman art and it became popular in medieval church architecture across Europe, particularly in England during the Gothic period. The Green Man became prominent in medieval architecture, especially in churches across Europe, from the 12th century onward.
