Gresham Ribbed Hose Pot
Who would have thought that a utilitarian tool like a hose pot could be so gorgeous. The Gresham Ribbed Hose Pot with its extraordinary rich multi layered Aegean blue patina is a beautiful pot with a hole in the lower side to allow a hose to snake through. The pot is also heavy enough that makes the pot difficult to overturn when pulling out the hose. This is really an attractive way to hide away that hose when it is not in use, definitely dressing up that terrace, patio, or garden. The hose pot is simply stunning, distinguished by its clean lines deep rich glaze patina.
Our glazed and terra cotta pottery is high fired between 990° C (1815° F) (terra cotta) and 1000° C (1832°F) (glaze) degrees centigrade to ensure frost resistance and durability. Due to the processes used in the manufacturing of our hand-made and hand-glazed containers, all variations with respect to firing, color, size and crackling are natural occurrences in the manufacturing process. The glazes on our containers consist of natural, not chemical, components and therefore the final color of the product will vary. This process creates the unique beauty of each piece.
Ideally we suggest that all terra cotta birdbath/fountain bases and terra cotta pots should be raised up off the ground in winter so they will not freeze to the ground surface. Ideally in the freezing winter outside, cover the top with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic, making sure that water does not accumulate in the basin and freeze.
