Thank you for visiting the HEN-FEATHERS® Collection on line!
Tad and Beth Featherman, America's leading design team in the Garden and Outdoor Living trend in the home furnishings industry, began designing The Hen-Feathers Collection on a beautiful gentleman's farm in the historic town of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, over twenty-two years ago. The original collection of about twenty garden sculptures, pots and accents grew over the years into a large collection of home furnishings, garden sculpture, fountains, planters, urns, wall decor, garden accessories, bird feeders, birdbaths, benches, tables, and more! The Featherman's design studio is still located in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. |

The driving force behind The Hen-Feathers Collection has always been Tad and Beth's deep appreciation of antiques and European style combined with a sense of history and nature. As designers, Tad and Beth's signature style is to mix classical designs, at times with a whimsical edge with a distinctive design that still preserves the dignity of form.

Tad and Beth were leaders in the development of the table top fountain, outdoor tabletop games such as outdoor tic-tac-toe, and garden wall decor trends in the home furnishings market. You can spot pieces of The Hen-Feathers Collection all over the country! A bunny there, a fox here, Hen-Feathers dogs guarding door steps, angels swinging from trees, giant frogs welcoming children into a school... We love to see our designs become special treasured parts of peoples lives.
The Feathermans are still busy designing, but The Hen-Feathers Collection itself is now produced and distributed by top quality manufacturers of garden accents and giftware. We license the use of the Hen-Feathers brand and designs to high quality, top manufacturers who pay a royalty for the license. This allows us to focus solely on design and to create designs across many categories. The Collection now includes: dinnerware, outdoor serveware, bronzes, outdoor lighting and lamps. Each season brings wonderful new designs as well as new licensees who broaden the collection. Be sure to visit us often to see the newest designs.

| Our Creative Process and Product Development
|
When creating designs for The Hen-Feathers Collection, we are inspired by the shape and beauty of just about everything in nature, architecture, antiques and the garden. It truly is the wonder of it all! Our inspirations can be sparked by a visit to our garden, a trip around the world, a museum visit, or a simple found object! From this inspiration, idea and concept we create rough sketches, then brainstorm with our design team. The next step is to create formal sketches. |
|
Prototypes are sculpted from our sketches. The design team reviews the initial prototypes and changes are made which might be necessary to match our original vision for the piece. We communicate carefully with our licenesees on details such as texture and relief.
Final prototypes are approved, the mold is made and the design is cast or fired into its desired form. Details of the colors, finishes and patinas are decided upon and chosen.
Finally, our licensees send us samples of the final design. Upon our approval, the products are manufactured and shipped to our customers.
